Ben Affleck’s terse reply when questioned about estranged wife Jennifer Lopez during divorce

Ben Affleck recently discussed Jennifer Lopez after collaborating on a film project together.

Fans of both the Gone Girl actor and Lopez, who have been closely following their relationship on social media, will be aware that Lopez has openly shared her thoughts about their romance.

In contrast, Affleck has chosen a more reserved public stance.

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in Los Angeles County Superior Court in August, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.

During an interview with comedian Nikki Glaser, Lopez candidly discussed her relationship with Affleck, comparing the end of their marriage to a house that ‘blows up’.

“You’re standing there in the rubble going, ‘How do I not ever let that happen again?’ And then you start examining it little by little saying, ‘OK, I did this, this was my part in it, this was what I should have seen early on, this is what I didn’t look at.’ Those things are what really are the lessons,” she said.

Unlike Lopez, Affleck has generally stayed quiet about their past, though he did share some thoughts about Lopez in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

While discussing the biographical sports drama Unstoppable during a call with Matt Damon and Cillian Murphy, Affleck mentioned the film, which he produced alongside Damon. The cast includes Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Don Cheadle, and Lopez.

Affleck described the movie as ‘very different’ from Small Things Like These but noted it is ‘similarly rooted in the passion of really talented artists’.

He elaborated: “And Billy Goldenberg and Jennifer and you know Don Cheadle and Jharrel and Bobby Cannavale – all of whom were really passionate about this film and then got to know Anthony and Judy and the relationship with them and the passion they had to bring this story to life.

“Again, it kind of speaks to a certain kind of thing I guess we’re drawn to which is, we really believe in the power of storytelling when the people involved in it are deeply, emotionally connected to the story.”

Praising his ex-partner’s role in the film, Affleck remarked: “Jennifer is spectacular.”

Currently, Small Things Like These is being shown in theaters, and Unstoppable is scheduled for release on Amazon Prime Video on January 16.
