Gypsy Rose Blanchard discloses her baby’s father following paternity test results

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has publicly clarified the identity of her unborn child’s father, following widespread speculation online about the child’s paternity.

Blanchard, who is 33, announced in July that she is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Ken Urker.

The couple began their relationship while Blanchard was incarcerated for her involvement in the 2015 murder of her mother, Claudine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard. They were engaged for a short time before ending their engagement.

In an interview with PEOPLE in May, Blanchard shared that Urker was initially her pen pal and that their relationship developed from there. Although Urker proposed to her in 2018, their relationship was episodic and ended before her release from prison last year.

After her release, Blanchard married Ryan Anderson in 2022, but they became estranged and separated in April, leading Blanchard to file for divorce. She later confirmed that she and Urker had rekindled their relationship.

The couple is expecting their daughter to be born in January 2025. Blanchard recently confirmed on social media whether her ex-husband or her boyfriend is the father of the baby.

There was speculation that Anderson might be listed on the birth certificate, as Louisiana Law states: “If the mother is married to someone other than the biological father when the child was conceived or has been divorced for less than 300 days at the time of birth, the husband/ex-husband shall be the presumed father, unless paternity is established for the biological father.”

To clear up the confusion, Blanchard took to Instagram on November 5th, announcing that she and Urker had both participated in a non-invasive prenatal paternity test the previous month.

In her post, Blanchard explained that she provided blood samples on October 28, while Urker provided a buccal smear to the DNA Diagnostics Center.

The testing, done on October 29, determined with 99.9 percent certainty that Urker is the biological father of Blanchard’s child, confirming that Anderson is not.

In the post, Blanchard expressed excitement about becoming parents with her boyfriend.

“There’s been a lot of chatter around the paternity of our baby and while we’ve known for sure from the beginning, I feel that it’s finally time to put all these theories to rest,” she shared with her 746,000 Instagram followers.

“Here are the results showing Ken is the father. Ken is going to be an incredible dad and we are so excited to welcome our baby girl into the world.”

Although they are preparing to raise a child together, Blanchard and Urker face living apart after the birth due to her parole conditions.

On an episode of The Viall Files podcast, hosted by Nick Viall, Blanchard explained that her parole terms prevent her from cohabitating with Urker.

“So I am still living with my parents in Cut Off, which is an hour away from [Urker],” she explained to the former Bachelor star.

“I’m gonna be living there until I’m off of parole. So we’re like, okay, how is this gonna work whenever the baby’s born?

“Like, how many days could I spend with you, and how many days can you spend with me?

“You know, who will she be with? As, you know, we’re going back and forth, and we’re doing kind of essentially co-parenting even though we are together.”
