‘Brilliant’ Parking Lot Innovation Has People Advocating for Widespread Adoption

A parking lot in Australia has become a sensation on social media for all the right reasons.

If you’re an adult who dreads parking due to the anxiety of maneuvering, especially with parallels or bay parks, this is for you.

The Glebe Hill shopping center in Tasmania has provided a helpful solution for shoppers who find parking stressful.

At first glance, the parking lot may seem ordinary, but look closer at the number of white lines and the spacing between them.

Instead of the usual single white line separating each parking space, this lot features rectangular boxes between each space.

This design increases the space between cars, making it easier to park and providing more room for getting in and out of vehicles.

Although these boxes might reduce the total number of cars that can park, many would agree it’s a worthwhile trade-off.

This simple concept poses the question: why hasn’t it been implemented everywhere?

After a satisfied visitor posted images of the parking lot online, many others have shared similar thoughts.

This individual posted in the Tasmania Parking Fails Facebook group, stating, “All car parks should adopt this method for line markings.”

“(It) gives you a level of confidence when parking here that it is fairly unlikely that you will get a ding in your door whilst shopping,” they said.

“I realise that it doesn’t absolutely guarantee that damage won’t occur, but it is most likely 95 percent effective.

“Not too many parking fails seem to happen here because the double lines have the effect of creating more accurate parking.

“Supermarket car parks are renowned for a high degree of car damage but not so here.”

The parking lot’s unique feature has been praised as ‘genius’ and ‘such a great idea’ by many, with one user describing it as an ‘absolutely elite parking experience’.

While the possibility of collisions can’t be entirely eliminated in a parking lot, the extra space minimizes the chance significantly.

10/10, would recommend to a friend – here’s hoping other parking lots follow suit!
