The holiday season is filled with various traditions, from exchanging presents to gathering for festive meals with loved ones.
Among those who embrace a unique holiday tradition is Hollywood icon Tom Cruise, who is known for sending a special gift to his colleagues each year.
This particular gift has stirred excitement among fans on social media, as it is the same thoughtful present annually.
While it’s uncertain if Tom Cruise extends this gesture to his close friends and family, numerous industry insiders have long spoken about being recipients of this gift.
So, what’s the buzz all about?
The actor, known for his role in Mission Impossible, sends out a coconut cake to those he’s collaborated with, and this cake has been gaining attention on social media once again.
“Happy holiday season folks – it’s officially Tom Cruise Cake Day in the Empire office!” Empire magazine shared on Twitter.
“Just a reminder that ‘normies’/ non-friends can also get ahold of the Tom Cruise Cake. It’s from Doan’s Bakery in Woodland Hills, CA. You can order the White Chocolate Coconut Bundt on Goldbelly for delivery,” film critic Courtney Howard noted.
Though this cake is available for anyone to purchase, several celebrities have been lucky enough to receive it as a gift from Cruise over the years.
Glen Powell, who appeared in Top Gun: Maverick, hosts a gathering at his home when the cake arrives, allowing friends to partake in the celebration.
Powell once mentioned on the Jennifer Hudson Show: “It is the most delicious cake you’ve ever had. My friends who have tried it, they love it so much that they hit me up right around December 1. ‘Hey, has it arrived yet?’ So now I have a party at my house where I’ll have the Cruise cake.
“It’s my ‘Cruise Cake Party’. And I’ll invite people over to try a bite or two … [they] can’t get greedy. I really have to limit people. I can’t let them come back for seconds.”
Actor Jay Ellis went as far as to transport the famed cake to Mexico, illustrating its irresistible appeal.
“This year, my family, we all met in Mexico to spend Christmas together,” the Top Gun star shared with Jennifer Hudson.
“And I was away filming a movie, and I was like, ‘Mom, can you freeze the cake and take it to Mexico?’ My whole family was like, ‘Yes, freeze the cake’.
“Whatever it is — dry ice, ice cubes, whatever it is — we froze the cake. We took it to Mexico, thawed it out and we had it on Christmas Day.”
