The creators behind the Hawk Tuah viral video have addressed the situation after Haliey Welch stated that she doesn’t owe them gratitude for her rise to fame.
In June, Tim & Dee TV released a video featuring conversations with women during nights out.
Haliey Welch made a memorable response when asked what excites a guy in bed, saying: “You gotta hawk tuah and spit on that thing.”
The video gained rapid popularity, leading to Haliey’s moniker as the ‘Hawk Tuah girl’.
Initially, Haliey retreated from the spotlight, but she soon embraced her sudden fame, eventually starting her own podcast.
Today, Haliey, believed to be in her early 20s, has amassed 2.6 million Instagram followers.
Despite her fame being linked to Tim & Dee TV’s viral video, Haliey recently mentioned she doesn’t feel she owes them thanks.
In a separate interview, Haliey claimed that the video creators approached her during the night out.
In response, Tim & Dee TV, whose real names are Tim Dickerson and DeArius Marlow, have shared their perspective in a new video addressing the misunderstandings with Haliey.
“That’s not how that happened,” the creators clarified in their video, addressing Halie’s account of events.
“She most definitely walked across the street [to us],” Tim explained.
“It was at the end of the night and I had the camera in my hands and was looking at clips,” he continued.
DeArius added, “They came around and seen the camera and tried to see what’s up.”
Tim & Dee TV’s new 41-minute video includes a clip of Haliey’s friend Chelsea specifically requesting a ‘spicy’ question topic.
DeArius noted that he initially intended to ask the girls about being ‘wifey material’ or ‘how to get over a breakup’.
In the video, the duo also shared DMs exchanged with Chelsea after the video gained widespread attention.
They expressed their willingness to share any resulting opportunities with the girls, though the latter chose a different path.
DeArius mentioned they offered $10,000 for another collaboration.
Nevertheless, Chelsea declined further collaboration, stating: “Considering how you’ve done us, I don’t think it’s fair for you to get any more.”
“Please explain to me how we did you so dirty,” DeArius questioned in their recent YouTube video.
“I didn’t know that offering someone $10,000 and a percentage of merch sales was bad.”
Tim & Dee TV also shared a screenshot of a message from Halie’s account inviting them to be on her podcast.
Chelsea echoed similar sentiments in a separate message.
Representatives for Haliey and Chelsea have been contacted by UNILAD for their comments on Tim & Dee TV’s recent assertions.
