Ten years ago, Kenny Veach, a dedicated hiker and YouTuber, embarked on what would be his final journey into the Nevada desert. His goal was to revisit a cave near Area 51 that he had come across once before.
In a video uploaded to his channel just weeks prior, Veach, a Las Vegas resident, described the cave’s entrance as being shaped like the letter ‘M’. He mentioned feeling vibrations and hearing noises emanating from it.
Veach was no stranger to hiking through the Nevada desert, having done so numerous times. In one of his YouTube vlogs, he openly discussed this unusual cave he had found.
“I solo hike across mountain tops that most people wouldn’t dare go. I have been in more caves than I can count. I play with rattlesnakes for fun. But this one particular cave was beyond anything I had ever encountered,” he shared.
This cave was located near Area 51, officially known as the ‘Nevada Test and Training Range’. The area is used for US Air Force training, though it’s often rumored to contain UFO-related secrets.
Many have speculated that the site might even harbor aliens and mysterious spacecraft over the years.
Veach, then 47, set out to locate this ‘vibrating’ cave once more. Unlike his usual expeditions, his girlfriend, Sheryon Pilgrim, noted that he appeared less organized, leaving without much of his gear, including his camera, which she said indicated he had ‘no intention of filming anything’.
After his disappearance, Pilgrim turned to YouTube to address the growing conspiracy theories, leaving a comment under one of Veach’s videos regarding his possible whereabouts.
She identified herself as ‘the girlfriend that Kenny spoke of in the video’ and described Veach’s meticulous preparation for every adventure into Nevada’s ‘beautiful’ landscape, which he adored.
“I want you to know that I do not think Kenny had an accident. I believe he committed suicide. He battled depression for many years, and would not take medication or see a doctor. He quit his job a little more than a year before he disappeared,” Pilgrim wrote.
She elaborated on how one of his business ventures failed, and he was reluctant to work for anyone else. She also shared that she had asked Veach if he would ever consider taking his own life, given that his father had done so.
Pilgrim remembered him telling her, ‘if I decide to do it, you will be OK because you are good at the Law of Allowing’, adding ‘no one will ever find me’.
Veach embarked on a three-day, two-night solo journey. When he failed to answer his phone on the third day, Pilgrim reported him missing.
“Over 30 search and rescue team members searched 3 different times on foot. One helicopter fly over was done and there was no trace of Kenny or any of his camping things,” she explained.
“They found his car in the area I told them it would be. They did find his cell phone by the mine shaft in the video. The mine shaft was only about a 4-hour hike from his car.
“It is my feeling he left it behind so that he could not be tracked from the GPS in it. He also did not take his video camera with him on this solo hike. It was left in his home. So, he had no intention of filming anything.”
