People Notice Key Change in Spotify Wrapped 2023 vs 2024, Explaining Why It’s ‘Ruined’

Spotify fans are voicing their disappointment regarding the perceived ‘downgrade’ of Spotify Wrapped from 2023 to 2024.

Music enthusiasts are criticizing the latest edition of Spotify’s Wrapped, comparing it unfavorably with the 2023 version.

This year’s Wrapped was promoted by Spotify as offering ‘an even richer experience’, aiming to give users ‘new ways to connect with listeners on a more personal level – right where they’re already streaming [their] music’.

The website states: “With hundreds of millions of fans sharing their Wrapped stories every year, your music becomes part of a global phenomenon. It’s your opportunity to stand out, connect more deeply with your biggest fans, and drive profile visits and streams.”

Despite the promotional promises, many users have expressed dissatisfaction with the 2024 Wrapped.

One Twitter user shared a screenshot comparing the top sections of the Spotify Wrapped screens from 2023 and 2024.

The comparison highlights a significant change – the 2023 Spotify Wrapped included 20 detailed pages analyzing users’ music preferences, covering not only favorite artists and genres but also moods.

In contrast, the 2024 Wrapped offered only 10 pages of listening insights.

This reduction in content has left users feeling underwhelmed.

One Twitter user remarked: “I had too high expectations for this year’s wrapping.”

Another commented: “They made it seem like this year would be worth the wait. They should’ve stopped tracking on Christmas if this was the case.”

A third user said: “A downgrade, we lost.”

Another stated: “2023 is clearly the winner here.”

One more added: “Year after year everything in this world tends to be worse than the year before..”

A frustrated user said: “Spotify wrapped flopped this year so bad like where are the music cities, the playlists, the top genres or the listening auras… all that wait for WHAT #SpotifyWrapped2024.”

Visuals were another point of contention, as users also criticized this aspect alongside the lack of categories.

One person commented: “Spotify making us wait all that time and wrapped has the most boring visuals and slideshow in years.”

Another added: “Spotify really made us wait just to serve PowerPoint 2010 vibes – like, this is what took so long?”
