Man Purchases $4595 in Returned Apple Products for Resale and the Outcome is Surprising

A YouTuber invested nearly $5,000 in returned Apple products and attempted to resell them at a higher price, later sharing the experience on his channel.

Many tech enthusiasts strive to keep up with the latest gadgets, resulting in some items being returned. YouTuber Harrison Nevel saw an opportunity in this trend.

Last year, Nevel uploaded a video on YouTube showcasing his acquisition of various returned Apple products, spending a total of $4,595 on merchandise he estimated to be worth close to $10,000.

After examining the products briefly, Nevel decided to visit a pawn shop to see if he could sell them for a profit, aiming to determine “how much money we potentially made or lost”.

He realized that several iPads had been placed in boxes of different generations.

“We have five of them that are worth $600 new, now I would be happy if we could maybe pull half of that, maybe a little less than half out of that, so we’re talking maybe $200 to $300 a piece because we can get $200 of each of these – that’s $11,000 right there,” he elaborated in the video.

With a collection of tech gadgets in his possession, Nevel was optimistic about making a decent profit.

However, many Apple products were not in optimal working condition, leading Nevel to earn only $80 for two of them at a pawn shop.

An iPad that was locked could not be sold unless unlocked, so the shop declined to purchase it.

Nevel also tried using an automatic device seller to offload the iPad.

The offer was $35, which Nevel declined.

Ultimately, Nevel managed to earn $3,750 from the Apple products, which was significantly less than his initial expenditure, leaving him with a loss of $845.

“We’re probably in a little bit of a negative but that’s why nobody bought the box off of that website and why we’re here to take the risks,” Nevel stated in the video.

Viewers responded in the comments, mostly expressing surprise at the amount Nevel managed to recover.

One commenter remarked, “$80 for an iPad?! That’s an insane low ball offer I would have refused,” while another added, “Dang wasn’t expecting that much in the red.”
