Viewers Threaten to Cancel Netflix Subscriptions Over ‘Sickening’ Content in Controversial Series

Netflix’s drama series featuring a renowned adult film star has left audiences stunned, with some viewers even considering cancelling their subscriptions.

Supersex takes inspiration from the life story of Rocco Siffredi, a prolific actor in the adult film industry who has appeared in over 1,300 films.

This series is an exploration of his life, serving as the main source of inspiration for Netflix’s controversial production.

The official synopsis from Netflix describes the seven-episode drama as a journey through ‘how and when Rocco Tano – a simple guy from Ortona became Rocco Siffredi, the most famous pornstar in the world.’

The show boasts an impressive 80 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, although not all feedback has been positive.

Directors chose not to hold back on explicit content, leading to mixed reactions from viewers. Some were displeased with the focus on a porn actor’s life.

A snippet from Supersex was posted and then removed from Netflix’s Instagram account, as reported by IGV, with one viewer expressing: “Now we have porn on Netflix as well? Cancelling the account while we speak, my kids can’t see this.”

The series is rated for mature audiences 18 and above due to its graphic content.

Particularly, a scene in episode six stirred up significant controversy.

Following his mother’s death, Rocco experiences a questionable encounter at her funeral, involving one of her friends who offers her condolences and engages in an intimate act with him.

A viewer commented: “I watched Supersex, which was compelling and interesting. Until, episode six mid-way. It was appalling, disrespectful and uncalled for. I’m talking about the cemetery scene.

“Before this episode, I would have given a thumbs up. So messed up.”

Another viewer shared on Twitter: “Yes, I know, complaining about too many sex scenes in Supersex is like complaining about too many car races in Fast & Furious. But also a few less, eh.”

Rocco Siffredi defended the series in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

He highlighted the unique perspective of the series, which is told through the lens of two women, and praised the director: “[Director] Francesca Mazzoleni is forward, she has a great head and also a way of looking at things that I really like.”

Siffredi also praised Alessandro Borghi, the actor portraying him, claiming ‘no one else in Italy could play me’.

Borghi revealed to Italian news outlet Today that he shot an astonishing 50 sex scenes in just 95 days.

If you’re curious about counting the number of intimate scenes, Supersex is currently available for streaming.
