A security specialist has proposed a new and unsettling theory regarding the enigmatic New Jersey drones, coinciding with a recent statement from the Pentagon.
Residents in the area are perplexed by the increase in drone sightings, raising questions about the drones’ activities and origins.
As authorities continue to investigate the occurrences, the Pentagon has recently disclosed its perspective on the situation.
During a briefing on Wednesday, December 11, Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh stated that there is “no evidence these are coming from a foreign entity or the work of an adversary.”
“We’re going to continue to monitor what is happening. But, you know, at no point were our installations threatened when this activity was occurring,” she mentioned.
Initial evaluations by the Pentagon indicated that the ‘drones’ were not foreign and that the US military did not intervene as they were not perceived as a threat.
A security expert has since shared his perspective on what the drones might be, hinting that the US government could be responsible.
As reported by the New York Post, retired Navy SEAL Clint Emerson, who operates a security firm, suggested: “My first guess is these are potentially government programs kept within what’s known as a ‘Special Access Program,’ which is purposely put together to keep even the most cleared people out – it truly is to keep it secret.”
“That’s why the government’s like, ‘We don’t know.’ They’re being truthful,” Emerson elaborated.
He proposed that the group involved with these drones could be quite small, possibly only a dozen people, leading many in government to be unaware of the operations.
Emerson also hypothesized that the drones might be collecting mobile phone data, speculating: “How much data can we collect with this? Let’s say we got 10 drones, they fly in a grid, how much cellphone traffic can we pick up? Not actual conversations. But just the signature of millions of cellphones. What can 10 drones pick up going over an area?
“That’s a legitimate test. They’re not invading your privacy. That’s legitimate data. And that’s a f**king capability.”
According to Reuters, the FBI and New Jersey State Police have requested the public to share any information related to the sightings.
“Witnesses have spotted the cluster of what look to be drones and a possible fixed-wing aircraft,” the FBI noted.
“We have reports from the public and law enforcement dating back several weeks.”
