Imagine mustering up the courage to go solo camping, only to discover that an eerie figure is observing you.
This unsettling scenario was a reality for one woman who recounted the spine-chilling moment she learned someone was watching her.
While creepy tales are common, sometimes reality can outdo fiction, as Alyssa Vanilla discovered.
Alyssa detailed her experience of traveling solo and setting up camp in her van while in the desert.
She posted a video recounting her experience camping in the desert near Tucson, Arizona.
A man approached her in an ATV vehicle, and Alyssa’s instincts kicked in, prompting her to start filming in case something was amiss.
Her intuition proved right.
The man asked Alyssa if she was alright and if she needed any water.
Alyssa inquired if he was a ranger, but he responded, ‘no, no I just live close’.
This interaction was peculiar from the start.
Their conversation continued as the man queried how long she intended to stay and oddly remarked: “If you do stay, I’ll see you again.
“But that’s all I’m doing, just nothing spooky.
“I have a house, my wife is living there and my children, so if you ever need a shower you’re welcome to come by.”
“It would probably work better since you are female if you came by while I was there a couple of times, just so my wife gets to know you and she doesn’t think there’s something stupid going on.”
Unsure of how to react, Alyssa found herself in an even stranger situation when the man returned.
He informed her: “So you have a guy, in the mountain over there, watching you with binoculars.”
Startled, Alyssa responded: “Oh well that is erm, unnerving, I guess I won’t be staying.”
The man replied: “Well it’s not that you can’t stay, but I’ll be honest with you, the other side of the mountain is safer.”
Alyssa noted in her video that “the other side of the mountain is a lot more open and exposed,” indicating she was skeptical of his claim.
He continued to discuss the so-called “stalker” he claimed to know, describing him as someone who checked if people had water.
This behavior mirrored what he had done with Alyssa.
By then, Alyssa had reached her limit and began packing to indicate she was leaving, but rather than departing, the man sat silently, rubbing his hands on the steering wheel and watching her.
Fortunately, Alyssa’s story concluded safely, but it serves as a cautionary tale for women considering camping alone in isolated areas.
