The trailer for the upcoming Superman film has just been released, and audiences are thrilled with what they’ve glimpsed of the James Gunn-helmed project so far.
Scheduled for release on 11 July 2025, the highly awaited film had its first teaser revealed following a brief preview on Monday (December 16). You can watch the new trailer here:
The teaser features David Corenswet debuting as Superman, clad in his iconic blue suit, accompanied by the slogan ‘Look up’.
After viewing the teaser earlier in the week, fans took to social media to share their excitement.
One individual commented: “My dear brother James Gunn, this poster makes me feel like I’m flying with Superman. What a great job! I’m very happy and incredibly proud of you. You’ve been working so hard, and you did it! The beautiful music behind it gave me goosebumps when I saw it.”
Another added: “This is going to be beautiful. I can’t wait for the trailer hopefully coming soon and the movie.”
Someone else remarked: “Rad. Can’t wait. And I love the tag line, I used to look up a lot but have noticed that hasn’t been the case lately, so this is a good reminder to look up again.”
However, not everyone is on board, leading one film enthusiast to note: “The amount of people hating on the new #Superman movie is insane. I’m not even a Superman fan, but how are you all having such a vitriolic reaction having seen less than 30 seconds of footage when you account for all the title screens spliced in?”
The film was initially known as Superman: Legacy, but Gunn announced in February that he was shortening the title to simply Superman.
Around the same period, the writer-director shared the first cast photo from the movie’s inaugural table read of the eagerly awaited script.
In May, Gunn unveiled the new Superman suit for the first time on social media.
Fans seem to be impressed with the outfit for new Superman David Corenswet, with one fan expressing: “You guys ate James. Can’t wait to see this suit in action!”
Another added: “Great costume design @jamesgunn so ready for this.”
The cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillon, and Isabela Mercad alongside Corenswet.
