Dentist uncovers frequent error leading to yellow teeth and ways to prevent it

A common inquiry many individuals have is how to maintain bright and white teeth. A dentist has provided insights on this topic.

With many celebrities opting for cosmetic dental work, it’s no wonder people aspire to have immaculate teeth.

Atrium Dental reports that evidence suggests approximately 90 percent of celebrities alter their smiles in some way.

For instance, it’s believed that Tom Cruise, Zac Efron, Demi Moore, and Victoria Beckham have porcelain veneers.

Fortunately, there are measures we can take to preserve the whiteness of our teeth, without needing to travel abroad for dental procedures.

Dr. Shaadi Manouchehri, known on social media as @dr.shaadi.manouchehri, shared advice on actions to avoid in order to maintain healthy, white teeth.

If you are someone who enjoys a coffee before heading out to work, be sure not to brush your teeth right after drinking it.

“Never brush your teeth after you’ve just had coffee,” Dr. Shaadi advises.

“Coffee is quite acidic… if you go and brush your teeth straightaway, you’re rubbing the acid onto the tooth and wearing the tooth away.”

She recommends waiting at least 30 to 60 minutes before brushing, or simply rinsing your mouth with mouthwash or water in the meantime.

The acidity in beverages like coffee can further spread if teeth are brushed immediately after consumption, and these drinks also weaken enamel.

Similarly, it is not advisable to brush your teeth immediately after vomiting due to the high acidity from your stomach contents.

“When the contents of the stomach have come into the mouth, then the mouth is very acidic,” the dentist stated.

“And if you brush straight away, you’re rubbing the acid onto the tooth even more. So, wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before you brush your teeth.”

Additionally, Dr. Shaadi advises against brushing teeth right after breakfast, suggesting instead that teeth be brushed beforehand.

She explains: “When you first wake up in the morning you have quite a lot of bacteria in the mouth and that needs to be brushed off before you have your breakfast.”

By taking these precautions, you can keep your teeth whiter for longer without the need for whitening strips.
