AI generates ‘most disastrous celeb couples’ imaginable, leaving people horrified

There’s a certain notion that some advocates of artificial intelligence had a rather peculiar motive: crafting the most unusual celebrity couples imaginable.

While AI indeed has numerous practical applications in today’s society, it’s amusing to see some of its more peculiar uses while we explore its potential.

A particularly eerie video has taken social media by storm. It’s not about mythical creatures or unfathomable horrors, but instead features celebrities and famous figures in unlikely pairings.

This video, which went live on Twitter on January 3, showcases some eyebrow-raising celebrity pairings, such as North Korea’s Kim Jong Un with Taylor Swift, and activist Greta Thunberg with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On a surprisingly less unsettling note, the video also pairs Rihanna with Joe Biden and former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson with Cardi B.

The combination of Pope Francis and Kim Kardashian left me particularly puzzled.

Social media users didn’t hold back their reactions.

One viewer remarked: “This is hilarious, and horrifying.”

Another added: “Putin x Greta is the worst thing I’ve seen in a while. Bleach to my eyes!”

Someone else simply described it as: “This is cursed.”

Another comment read: “And just like that, I’ve reached my level of ‘ewww’ for the day.”

A fifth observer noted: “Well you did it. You managed to gross out the entire internet. Congrats.”

Although these AI-generated scenarios might currently seem like mere fun, experts have cautioned about the potential negative impacts of artificial intelligence on society.

Several viewers even commented on the uncanny realism of the video.

Dr. Geoffrey Hinton, a cognitive psychologist and computer scientist affiliated with Google, has spoken about the risks associated with AI.

In an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Today program, Dr. Hinton remarked: “You see, we’ve never had to deal with things more intelligent than ourselves before.

“And how many examples do you know of a more intelligent thing being controlled by a less intelligent thing? There are very few examples.”

He added: “I didn’t think it would be where we would be now. I thought at some point in the future we would get here.

“Because the situation we’re in now is that most of the experts in the field think that sometime, within probably the next 20 years, we’re going to develop AIs that are smarter than people.

“And that’s a very scary thought.”
