Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor criticizes ‘unpopular’ fan theory surrounding the iconic series

Buffy the Vampire Slayer continues to be a topic of discussion even decades after its premiere.

First airing in 1997, this beloved TV series enjoyed a successful run across seven seasons.

Sarah Michelle Gellar took on the iconic role of Buffy, with Alyson Hannigan, James Marsters, and Michelle Trachtenberg also gaining fame through their roles in the series.

The show concluded in 2003, yet 22 years later, fans remain engaged, frequently sharing theories and discussions about it.

Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase both in Buffy and its spin-off Angel, remains actively involved with the show’s fan community.

In Buffy, Cordelia had a complicated relationship with the main characters, often positioned as the ‘mean girl.’

Carpenter frequently engages with fans on her TikTok page, responding to their comments and questions about the series.

Recently, a fan proposed a theory to Carpenter, stating: “Cordy was a better friend to Buffy than most of the scoobies.”

Carpenter responded with interest: “Ooo, this is such an unpopular take,” acknowledging the potential controversy of the comment.

“You really think so? You think that Cordy was a better friend to Buffy than the Scoobies? Holy sh*t. I’m gonna need a bullet point dissertation and all the ways you can prove that to be true,” she continued.

Inviting more discussion, Carpenter encouraged her followers to share their opinions in the comments.

“Get busy. I need to know. Tell me in the comments immediately. Immediately,” she urged.

“You got to tell me all the ways that you can prove that Cordy was a better friend to Buffy than her Scooby Gang. Also, was Cordy a Scooby, a reluctant Scooby. a Scooby nonetheless? Give it to me in the comments. I need to know,” Carpenter added.

Fans eagerly responded, with one saying, “She wouldn’t have let them kick Buffy out of her own house!”

Another fan suggested, “Cordelia saw Buffy as Buffy, her actual ‘friends’ only saw her as the slayer.”

Echoing similar views, a third fan stated, “Having recently rewatched this back. Yes. Cordy and Tara were better friends than Willow and Xander.”

Another person praised Cordelia for her honesty, and one more argued, “This is not unpopular. This is the only take.”
