Donald Trump Issues Executive Order Concerning Transgender Women in Athletics

President Trump has once again targeted the transgender community with a series of new executive orders.

Since re-entering office, Trump has rapidly signed several orders, including one barring transgender individuals from military service and another preventing transgender women from being placed in female correctional facilities.

In a recent order dated February 5, Trump is advocating for the exclusion of transgender women from women’s sports competitions.

The order, called ‘Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,’ directs the Trump administration to urge the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to revise Olympic policies on gender participation before the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.

This directive authorizes the Secretary of State’s Office to apply pressure on the IOC to modify regulations for Olympic sports ‘to ensure fairness, safety, and the best interests of female athletes by basing eligibility for women’s events on sex rather than gender identity or testosterone levels’.

Additionally, the order demands ‘immediate reinforcement’ against educational institutions and athletic associations that refuse to provide women with single-sex sports and changing facilities, as reported by Sky News.

The order also proposes that the Secretary of State and the Department of Homeland Security ‘evaluate and amend, if necessary, policies related to the entry of males into the U.S. who intend to compete in women’s sports’.

There is no verified occurrence of male athletes participating in women’s Olympic events.

Before signing the contentious order, Trump stated: “From now on, women’s sports will be only for women.”

“We’ve eliminated the woke ideology from our military, and now we’re removing it from women’s sports.”

Referring to the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics, he added: “In Los Angeles in 2028, my administration will not allow men to dominate female athletes. We won’t let this happen.”

“As a precaution, I’m instructing our Secretary of Homeland Security to reject visa applications from men pretending to be women athletes to gain entry to the games.”

While officials from the LA28 organizing committee did not immediately comment, outgoing IOC President Thomas Bach stated in December that Olympic organizers were ‘very confident’ they could collaborate with the Trump administration, according to PA.
