A source with knowledge of the situation has disclosed how Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight-end, reacted when Taylor Swift encountered boos at Super Bowl LIX.
Swift made the trip to New Orleans to cheer on Kelce’s team as they faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday (February 9). Unfortunately, her support wasn’t enough, and the Chiefs suffered a 22-40 defeat.
Kelce was visibly disappointed following the match, but it seems that wasn’t the only moment of dissatisfaction for the NFL player during this year’s Super Bowl.
Earlier in the evening, Swift found herself in the spotlight when she appeared on the Super Bowl’s Jumbotron. Caught off guard, as she wasn’t looking at the camera, Swift was puzzled when the crowd began to boo.
Swift seemed unsettled by the reaction, asking, ‘What’s going on?’, while Kelce reportedly had a more profound response to the incident.
Speaking to the Mail Online, an insider explained Kelce’s feelings about the boos: “Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed and he felt helpless. Seeing the look on her face got to him.
“He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn’t help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this.”
The source further claimed that some Eagles fans see Swift as a ‘traitor’, recalling her previous support for the Eagles before her relationship with Kelce.
Swift has faced criticism for the attention she receives at football games while trying to support Kelce and the Chiefs.
Even former President Donald Trump shared his thoughts, posting on Truth Social after the game: “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”
In response to Trump’s remark, the insider added: “Travis believes that it was unnecessary for Trump to take a dig at her especially after he voiced that he was honored for a president to be there.”
“After Taylor being shut out for a Grammy and Travis losing the biggest game of the year it just hasn’t been a good week for them.
