A man who consumed nearly 1,000 eggs over the course of a month shared how this diet affected his sex drive, and the results might surprise you.
YouTube challenges have come a long way from simpler tasks like the Cinnamon Challenge and the Harlem Shake.
Today, content creators are spending large sums to review every airline in the US, consuming vast amounts of liquid to see if it enhances productivity, and even renting out three Egyptian pyramids for entertainment content.
One such YouTuber going to great lengths to amuse audiences is Joseph Everett. Based in Japan, he posted a video about his egg consumption under his ‘What I’ve Learned’ channel.
In December 2022, Everett uploaded a video titled ‘I ate 900 eggs in 1 month. Here’s what happened to my cholesterol’, aiming to see if this regimen would enhance his physical strength.
In his video, Everett mentioned initially consuming the eggs in protein fruit smoothies, alongside bowls of rice, beef, and protein bars.
By the fifth day, he noted that the sheer number of eggs was upsetting his stomach, prompting him to start cooking them.
However, by day nine, he realized the eggs were impacting his sex drive.
“The ninth day is when I noticed I’d been feeling pretty great,” Everett shared. “I felt more focused, had tons of energy in and out of the gym.”
He also noticed an increase in his libido.
The notion that eggs can boost sex drive might seem unusual, but some experts believe there is some truth to it.
Dr. Arun Kumar, writing for Practo.com, explains that eggs contain L-arginine, an amino acid known to assist some men with erectile dysfunction.
“While certain foods can keep your blood pumping and boost hormone levels, diet alone isn’t always enough to improve your sex life,” he added, recommending those experiencing low desire or pain during intercourse see a doctor.
Additionally, Rajeswari V Shetty, a Consultant and HOD-Dietetics at SL Raheja Hospital in Mumbai, told Healthshots that the vitamin B found in eggs can help ‘set up the sex drive and keep the mind stress-free’.
“Eggs also help fight stress and balance hormone levels, which are important for a healthy sex drive,” she added.
“They can be consumed in various forms, like hard-boiled, scrambled, or poached.”
Of course, eggs aren’t the only option for boosting your sex drive. OB/GYN Salena Zanotti suggests that couples consider talk therapy.
“For most people, sex and sexual arousal is two-pronged – you need your body to respond in certain ways, and you also need to be mentally interested,” she explained to the Cleveland Clinic.
“If your mind is focused on other concerns, it’s easy for sexual desire to wane.”

Other natural methods to enhance libido include managing anxiety, securing a restful night’s sleep, and maintaining a balanced, nutritious diet.
A 2015 study indicated that regular exercise can help improve sex drive, manage relationship dynamics, and address body image concerns, while Medical News Today suggests that eliminating smoking might resolve sexual problems for some.
By the end of his video, Everett reported gaining an impressive 13lbs of muscle mass and noted improvements in his lifting capacity.
He also stated there was no significant increase in ‘bad cholesterol’ in his blood, although he did experience reduced sleep during the challenge.
