The young girl who was the only survivor of a heartbreaking murder-suicide, involving the deaths of three young girls, has sadly succumbed to her injuries.
Olivia Blackmer, a seven-year-old, fought for her life for five days after suffering a devastating gunshot wound to the head. She passed away on Saturday afternoon, February 15. Her mother, 32-year-old Tranyelle Harshman, was responsible for shooting Olivia and her sisters before taking her own life.
Olivia was the last of the children to succumb to the injuries inflicted by their mother. Her nine-year-old sister and two-year-old stepsisters died on the afternoon of February 10 at the crime scene in Wyoming.
Katelynn Blackmer, Olivia’s stepmother, broke the heartbreaking news on the GoFundMe page set up to cover Olivia’s medical and funeral expenses.
“Olivia is with her sisters now. She gained her angel wings yesterday at 3:44 pm. She fought so so hard up til the last minute! Her body and her brain had been through too much, medication helped but we reached a point where medical options were exhausted and her body only continued to get worse,” she shared.
“She kept fighting through it all though until her heart stopped. We are grateful she hung on as long as she did so we could get some valuable time with our sweet baby girl the last five days. We want to thank each and every one of you for your prayers and support for our family.
“We are in a rough spot with the tragic passing of both daughters. We took time as a family to grieve and be in the moment before letting the world know but wanted to let you all know as we are thankful for all that you have done.”
The message continued: “Olivia and Brailey know how loved they were by all of us! This is going to be extremely hard, please keep our family in your prayers as we figure out how to grieve this horrific tragedy day to day.”
Reports indicate that Harshman called 911 on February 10 to report the shooting of her daughters, as confirmed by the local sheriff’s office.
During the call, she provided the dispatcher with details of where the girls were located in the house, leading officers to the tragic scene where they found the girls with gunshot wounds to the head.
At that time, Olivia was the only one to survive the incident.
Harshman was found alive but later succumbed to her injuries.
