Gas Station Error Leads Woman to Unexpected $2,000,000 Lottery Win

A woman found herself unexpectedly fortunate after mistakenly winning a lottery.

Recently, Kelly Lindsay made a stop at a Race Way gas station in Carrollton, Virginia, to purchase a scratch-off ticket.

She had a specific lottery game in mind, and after buying her ticket, she went to the parking lot to see if she had won.

Upon checking, she realized she had been given a different scratch-off card than the one she intended to play, which initially disappointed her.

However, her disappointment was short-lived. After scratching her Money Blitz card, it revealed that she had hit a $2,000,000 jackpot.

Reflecting on her unexpected fortune, she commented: “I got over not being happy about it!”

If I received $2,000,000 as a result of a cashier’s mistake, I think I would be quite content too.

Virginia Lottery confirmed Kelly’s win and the option she selected, stating: “Ms. Lindsay had the choice of taking the full $2 million prize in annual payments over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $1,250,000 before taxes.”

The lottery highlighted, “The chances of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,142,400. The chances of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 3.29.”

A similar stroke of luck occurred for Tayeb Souami in 2018 when he went to return some orange juice to a store and ended up significantly wealthier.

Faced with financial difficulties, Tayeb and his wife found the $5 juice too costly, leading her to send him back to exchange it for a cheaper option.

Instead of purchasing another drink, Tayeb bought two Powerball lottery tickets.

Returning home, Tayeb forgot about the tickets until the next day when he remembered to check his numbers.

While one ticket was a loss, the other dramatically altered Tayeb’s life.

Seeing a message on the store’s lottery machine to consult the retailer when he scanned his second ticket, he soon discovered he had won a staggering $315,000,000.

In a press statement after his monumental win, Tayeb expressed plans to fund his children’s education.

He humorously added that the experience made him ‘love orange juice’ – a sentiment I would likely share.
