Benny Blanco recently opened up about his relationship anxieties regarding his fiancée, Selena Gomez.
The couple, who have captured media attention since announcing their relationship in 2023, surprised fans due to their long-standing friendship. They originally met as teenagers and collaborated on Blanco’s 2019 track ‘I Can’t Get Enough.’
Their friendship reportedly turned romantic in mid-2023, with Gomez confirming their relationship on social media soon after.
The couple got engaged over the Christmas period last year, solidifying their commitment to each other.
Despite their apparent bliss, Blanco, 36, confessed to Interview Magazine his worries about the stability of their relationship with the 32-year-old singer.
Blanco expressed his fear, saying, “I’m so scared she’s just going to wake up and be like, ‘What? No.’
Gomez, however, reassured him, stating, “You’re stuck with me.”
Gomez also highlighted Blanco’s romantic nature, recalling his unique Valentine’s Day surprise—a bathtub filled with nacho cheese and “I love you” spelled out with chips.
Blanco emphasized their supportive dynamic, saying, “There’s no ego between us. She’s praying for me to win, and I’m praying for her to win.”
The couple is set to release a joint album titled I Said I Love You First on March 21.
Initially hesitant about collaborating, they agreed to pause if the project felt ‘weird,’ but the process unfolded smoothly with dedication and affection, according to Blanco.
The album has already generated excitement with the release of their first love song ‘Scared of Loving You’ and its accompanying music video, filmed at Disneyland, which was unveiled last week.
In their first joint interview, the couple shared insights into their relationship, frequently finishing each other’s sentences.
Blanco shared how he selected Gomez’s marquise diamond engagement ring, relying on subtle hints she had given him.
Discussing their playful dynamic, Blanco said, “We talk about everything all day so – also, I never take myself seriously, so everything I say -“
“Is a joke,” Gomez interjected.
Blanco also shared that once their relationship turned romantic, he was certain Gomez was “the girl I’m going to marry” and told his mother so.
He added, “I could sit in this bed with [Gomez] for 72 hours and feel like I didn’t miss anything. She’s like my f**king heroin and Xanax combined.”
