Dolly Parton discloses the 4 key guidelines she set for Sabrina Carpenter prior to collaborating on popular track

Dolly Parton teamed up with Sabrina Carpenter for a remix of one of Carpenter’s songs, although certain terms were set before they began their collaboration.

At 79 years old, Parton, known for her iconic country music, put forth some stipulations due to Carpenter’s style, which includes wearing shirts with slogans like ‘Jesus was a Carpenter’, using explicit language in her music, and performing provocative dance moves on stage.

The two artists joined forces for a remix of Carpenter’s popular song, ‘Please Please Please’. Upon listening to the remix, listeners might catch a few changes.

In the song’s original version, Carpenter sings, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me motherf**ker.”

For her duet with Parton, the line was changed to, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me like the others.”

Parton discussed her method for collaborating with Carpenter in an interview with Knox News, noting that Carpenter ‘can talk a little bad now and then’. To address this, Parton established four key guidelines.

Parton explained, “I told her, I said, now, I don’t cuss. I don’t make fun of Jesus. I don’t talk bad about God, and I don’t say dirty words.”

She humorously added, “On camera, but known to if I get mad enough.”

A clip shared on Parton’s TikTok shows her playfully discussing Carpenter’s use of ‘dirty words’.

Parton continued, “I couldn’t say those words in front of my kids. We know both versions.”

Fans on TikTok reacted positively. One user commented, “This is so stinking cute I can’t handle it.”

Another exclaimed, “My two favorite singers collaborating on one of my favorite songs?!”.

A third viewer said, “They are absolutely twins to me. I would watch if they had a TV show.”

Further in the interview, Parton expressed her admiration for Carpenter, describing her as ‘so sweet’ and spoke about the pleasure she finds in collaborating with other artists.

She stated, “I love being able to have that freedom. I think freedom is a great word for everybody, anybody, in anything you do. Just having the freedom to work and the freedom to express yourself the way you want to. To do what you want to, go where you want to.

“I think that’s been the greatest joy is just thinking, ‘Yay, Beyoncé wants to sing with me! She wants to sing my song!’ Yeah, absolutely. Which train do I get on that’s going to get me there the quickest?”
