A clip of Elon Musk appearing engrossed while playing with his cutlery at a meal with Donald Trump has gained significant attention online.
While he’s often caught up in controversies, such as being accused of making inappropriate gestures at rallies, or being criticized by his estranged daughter, Elon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump’s administration, finds himself in the spotlight for a different reason: toying with utensils during dinner.
As Musk’s plans to reduce government expenditure come under the microscope, a video has circulated widely on social media, depicting him skillfully balancing a fork and spoon on one finger while dining with Trump.
In the footage, the Tesla CEO is seated at a dinner table alongside Neuralink director Shivon Zilis, with whom he shares four children, and is seen engaging with his cutlery.
The camera then shifts to reveal Trump sitting to Musk’s right, conversing with another guest, while Musk remains absorbed in his cutlery act.
Musk later clarified the initial reports via social media, stating: “A fork and two spoons balanced on the tip of my finger.”
The meal reportedly took place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, on March 15, as noted by Times Now News, and attendance required a $1 million donation per seat.
Public reactions were swift and varied.
One Twitter user commented, “Peak genius and dinner entertainment.”
Another remarked, “I bet this hits so hard if you’re seven.”
The discussion extended to Reddit as well.
A Reddit user observed: “This photo is cropped but in other versions the president is sitting in the chair next to him talking to someone. I find that makes Elon playing with silverware even stranger…”
Someone else commented: “He’s hoping someone will pay attention to him. ‘Hey! That looks neat! Man, you’re so cool!’ It’s so painfully transparent.”
Another echoed: “The video is so sad. He’s just sitting there doing a childhood dinner trick while waiting for someone to notice how ‘cool’ it was. Next he’s gonna do the hang the spoon off your nose trick lol. This is the s**t I did when my parents dragged me to dinner parties as a kid.”
And another concluded: “People on Twitter are legitimately like ‘THIS IS HOW SOMEONE WAY SMARTER THAN YOU BRAINSTORMS A DESIGN FOR A SATELLITE’
“Like bigger f**king simps could not possibly exist in the known universe.”
