Sorority Student with Viral Smiling Mugshot Arrested Again Weeks Later

A sorority member known for her viral mugshot has found herself in trouble with the law again.

Lily Stewart, a student at the University of Georgia, gained widespread attention online after her glamorous mugshot surfaced following a speeding charge. Her striking appearance in the photo led social media users to affectionately dub her ‘Miss America.’

According to the NY Post, the 20-year-old was arrested once more, merely two weeks after her initial run-in with law enforcement, facing two new charges as of Sunday (March 23).

An Alpha Chi sorority member, Stewart was apprehended by campus police around 5:30 a.m. for allegedly obstructing law enforcement and loitering/prowling, as detailed by the Athens-Clarke County Sheriff’s Office records.

The charges are classified as misdemeanors, and she was released after posting a $4,600 bond. In her second booking photo, Stewart once again smiled, this time wearing prison garb, as seen in images obtained by TMZ.

Stewart has been active on her TikTok account, where she humorously shares some of her favorite fan comments regarding her initial mugshot.

Comments range from light-hearted jabs at her speeding incident, such as someone quipping, “She was tryin to get the last pumpkin latte of the season,” to another jesting about a possible sale at Lululemon.

Additional remarks include one saying she looked like a third-grade teacher hurrying to class, while others joked about her having a legal edge with, “That smile says my daddy is an attorney.”

Further jokes suggested that her attractiveness might as well be a crime or that she’s guilty of “stealing my heart.”

TMZ reports that her attorney confirmed the dismissal of the speeding charge and mentioned Stewart has been targeted by online trolls after her mugshot gained notoriety.

Stewart herself commented on the situation, saying, “I didn’t know you could get arrested for speeding, but when he put those handcuffs on, I just shut up.” She recounted feeling frightened but compliant, opting to “figure it out” later.

The viral attention has also brought unwanted attention from ‘creepy men,’ some even offering to cover her bail.

Speaking to The Post, Stewart expressed surprise at the attention, stating, “I think it’s hilarious. I don’t know what all the hype is about. I just took a mugshot and went on with my day,” and shared amusement at comments about her supposed shopping trips or urgent need for a restroom.

She explained that she was en route to attend a friend’s birthday celebration, which accounted for her well-styled hair and makeup when she was pulled over by a Georgia State Patrol officer. “I was going to a friend’s birthday in Milledgeville, [Ga.] — and I had just gotten ready not long before, so that’s maybe why my makeup and hair still looked good,” she said.
