Catching awkward moments on camera can make them even more uncomfortable, a reality Cheryl Hines faced recently.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm actress attended UFC 314 in Florida with her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., where Donald Trump was also present.
RFK Jr. currently serves as the US Health Secretary, a position he was appointed to by Trump upon his return to office in January.
During the event, Trump recognized RFK Jr. and offered a brief hug and handshake. However, when Hines extended her hand to greet the former president, he seemingly ignored the gesture, creating a viral moment online.
Hines’ reaction, marked by a shrug and a facial expression that suggested displeasure, was broadcast as part of ESPN’s event coverage. Social media users quickly took to Twitter to comment on the incident.
One user observed, “Donald Trump snubbing Cheryl Hines is literally a real life Curb Your Enthusiasm moment.”
Another remarked, “Donald Trump not giving RFK Jr’s wife Cheryl Hines a handshake at UFC 314 looks straight off an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
Yet another found the situation amusing: “Trump ignoring Cheryl Hines was awkward af lol.”
While some interpreted the moment as intentional, others argued it was a simple oversight. A photo later emerged showing Hines and Trump engaged in conversation, suggesting the snub might not have been deliberate.
One user commented, “NEVER SNUBBED by Trump. He went back to greet RFK’s wife Cheryl Hines at the UFC. Trump has a lot going on in his head right now.”
Another added, “Trump appeared to not see her hand for the handshake and later went back to greet her and her husband.”
Further elaboration came from someone who said, “The scene is ultra chaotic and he missed her on his entrance but did chat with her and RFK Jr at the event.”
Another commentator concluded, “Trump didn’t snub Cheryl Hines, RFK Jr.’s wife, at UFC. He just got caught up in the moment, and the drama queens tried to spin it into a rift between him and RFK Jr.”
