Man earned almost $72,000 in six weeks from a simple idea hatched during a night out

A man recently shared his experience of earning almost $72,000 in a mere six weeks from an idea he conceived during a night out.

Many of us have had flashes of inspiration after a few drinks, often leading to thoughts of ordering late-night snacks or remembering to hydrate before sleeping. However, Bailey Page, hailing from Queensland, Australia, came up with a remarkable idea after facing a challenge on his evening out.

The incident occurred in 2020 when Bailey was unable to call a taxi due to his phone running out of battery. This predicament sparked a concept that has since proven quite profitable.

Bailey, 20 at the time, ended up walking home, pondering whether there was a way to charge phones without the need for bulky battery packs.

He envisioned a portable, wireless phone charger that would be convenient for nights out, avoiding pocket clutter.

Remarkably, Bailey didn’t forget his idea the next day. He searched online for solutions but found nothing that matched his vision.

Determined to bring his idea to life, he invested all his savings into developing the product while managing his studies in his third year of college.

Bailey taught himself about power banks through YouTube tutorials, eventually designing a wireless charger that attaches to a phone.

“My third year essentially, I just had to focus on getting uni complete while I did my studies,” Bailey told the Courier Mail.

“It was just a lot of late nights and weekend work to really cover up on what I couldn’t do through the week when I was at uni. I thought to myself, you know what, if I failed, I at least had a go.

“I always encourage young people just to have a go. You have to put a plan on paper. It’s always good to get outside eyes looking in and giving you feedback. You can never fail with starting and the biggest hurdle is actually just starting.”

During the fifth week after launching Zip Zap, Bailey appeared on Sunrise’s Sam Mac’s Plugapalooza segment, a moment that significantly boosted his business.

Just 48 hours later, he sold 1,500 units throughout Australia and went on to collaborate with prominent sports figures like Tate McDermott and Liam McWright.

Remarkably, Zip Zap generated nearly $72,000 in just six weeks and has continued to exceed all expectations since.
