Post Malone has achieved a significant victory in the custody dispute with his former fiancée.
The performer, who shared the news of his daughter’s birth and his engagement in June 2022, is currently engaged in a legal battle for custody of their 2-year-old following their separation at the end of 2024.
Malone, known by his birth name Austin Richard Post, is contesting custody arrangements with his ex, Hee Sung ‘Jamie’ Park.
Despite limited public knowledge about Park, her identity became known when she initiated legal proceedings for custody of their daughter.
Malone had kept their relationship quite private, referring to her occasionally as ‘Jamie’.
The couple seemed to share a strong bond, and Malone was notably protective of her and their daughter after her birth.
He expressed in a September 2023 interview with CR Fashion Book: “I feel like a lot of people feel entitled to know every single detail of everyone’s life and it’s why I don’t want to post any pictures of my baby, because I want her to be able to make that decision whenever she wants to and is ready.”
However, by January 2025, Malone and Park had parted ways, and Malone was later seen dining in Rome with Christy Lee at the Mascagni Hotel.
Recently, Malone secured a legal advantage in the custody battle by submitting his custody documents in Utah on Monday, April 14, two days prior to his ex-fiancée’s petition in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, this early filing ensures the case will be resolved in Utah rather than Los Angeles.
This decision could result in significant financial savings for Malone, as child support payments in California are generally higher.
According to World Population Review, the average child support payment in California is $6,497, compared to $5,610 in Utah.
Allegedly, Park is requesting that Malone cover her legal expenses for the custody case. Regarding child support, Park’s filings, as reported by DailyMail, state: “The court may make orders for support of the children and issue an earnings assignment without further notice to either party.”
Sources informed TMZ that Malone chose to file in Utah because that was where he and Park initially agreed to share 50/50 custody of their daughter, despite Park relocating to California at the beginning of 2025.
While Park’s identity was disclosed during the custody proceedings, their daughter’s name remains undisclosed, with Park’s court documents referring to her as ‘DDP’.
TMZ reports that Park is pursuing full physical custody of their daughter, with Malone permitted visitation rights.
Following his breakup with Park, Malone reportedly began dating Lee, who, according to TMZ, is a Parsons School of Design student based in New York City.
