Miley Cyrus’ brother criticizes ‘lame’ Katy Perry, accusing her of imitating his sister’s career in harsh video

Trace Cyrus has been criticized as ’embarrassing’ and ‘jealous’ after launching a public critique against Katy Perry, accusing her of imitating his sister Miley Cyrus’ career path.

The 36-year-old musician took to Instagram to make his claims against the ‘California Gurls’ artist, alleging in a pointed 50-second video that Perry has been mimicking Miley’s career moves. The video was captioned with “Didn’t work.. try again,” and featured Trace parodying the 40-year-old singer and her publicity team.

He stated: “I first knew Katy Perry and her team were lame as f**k when her crew was first dying and they were like, ‘hmm what can we do? What worked for Miley? She cut her hair off and it broke the internet and everyone freaked out and she bleached it blonde, we should do that with you Katy’.”

“Katy’s like, ‘yeah, yeah we should, should we do it like slightly different?’. ‘No, we’re gonna do it exactly the same. And also Miley started working with Mike WiLL Made-it, Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J. Remember Js On My Feet?'”

“‘You know she started the transition doing more hip-hop stuff, we’re gonna get you in with the hottest group the Migos, you’re gonna do exactly what the f**k Miley did and blow up’.”

Trace continued his criticism, saying: “Guess what it didn’t f***ing work and then they just tried some EDM [electronic dance music] song or some s*** because EDM’s hot – it didn’t f***ing work.”

“Now, we’re going to send your a** to space – didn’t f***ing work! It’s not working, it’s backfiring. Stop!”

These comments followed Perry’s criticized reaction when she returned from the first all-women space expedition, which lasted a mere 11 minutes. Upon landing, the ‘Dark Horse’ singer kissed the ground, an action some saw as disrespectful to NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who had been stranded in space for nine months.

Fans of both Perry and Miley seemed to find Trace’s video unnecessary, expressing their thoughts online.

One fan commented: “Miley would be very upset ab this…” while another said: “Why do you want to put Katy against Miley? The two have always been friends, they have always supported each other, we Miley fans disagree with you.”

A third queried: “What’s the need for this ??”

Another person questioned the motivation behind the video, stating: “Why are you trying to put two women against each other that literally have zero beef? One of those people is your literal sister.”

“Katy is doing just fine and so is Miley why try to compare the two for literally no reason other than you had a thought pop into your mind and felt the need to share it.”

Trace, who also pursues a music career with over 12,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, answered: “Because I can say and do whatever I feel like on my page and my observation of something obvious to everyone has nothing to do with anyone else but me because I said it. Get over it babe.”

In response to another comment suggesting jealousy, Trace remarked: “Sounds like an observation that any average person with knowledge of pop culture could make.”

When another user expressed embarrassment for him, he retorted: “No your[sic] not. Your projecting your insecurities onto me because of your insignificance in this world.”
