A shocking video has surfaced showing a shark approaching beachgoers just before a swimmer was seemingly attacked.
The event occurred at Hadera beach in northwest Israel on April 21, with temperatures soaring to 80°F (27°C). Following the incident, authorities have issued a caution to the local community.
The shark was seen swimming near beach visitors, and moments later, a terrifying attack was recorded by the Orot Rabin power station. The victim’s anguished cries for help were captured in the footage.
During the recording, an individual is heard calling the emergency services to report the ongoing distress.
“There’s someone here that a shark has bitten. He’s screaming, ‘Help!’ He’s in the sea at Hadera. He’s drowning,” the person said.
“He’s in the sea. Nobody’s coming to save him.”
The operator then inquired if the caller could see him, to which she responded: “No, I can’t see him.”
The individual is currently still missing.
Following this, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority has issued an alert to visitors along its Mediterranean coast.
The agency stated: “The Authority reiterates its warning against interacting with sharks and once again calls on the public to avoid approaching them, as they are protected animals.”
A spokesperson for the local police commented: “A short time ago, police officers from the Hadera station were dispatched following a report from citizens who claimed to have seen a shark attacking a diver in the water.
“We will continue to update according to developments. We call on the public travelling in the area to avoid entering the water and coming into contact with the sharks.”
The Coastal Department for Hadera has announced that officers are actively patrolling the area in an effort to locate the body of the victim, whose identity remains unknown.
According to The Mirror, a beachgoer reported that the victim was yelling, ‘They’re biting me’, while frantically waving his arms. The shark then pulled the man further into the sea.
In another recorded incident, a man was reacting in real time, describing: “Wow, wow, he’s with the shark, he’s fighting him.”
He later added: “They’re eating him, eating the man… Can’t see him.”
