Donald Trump has previously cautioned Iran against escalating tensions as the conflict with Israel intensifies, and now, there has been an attack on the American embassy.
The unexpected assault by Israel on Iran’s nuclear and military installations last week has led to Iran retaliating.
This exchange of strikes between Israel and Iran has heightened tensions and raised concerns about regional instability.
Donald Trump has openly supported Israel’s actions and urged Iran to avert further casualties by agreeing to a deal.
The President continues to push Iran to sign a nuclear agreement with the P5+1 group, which includes the US, UK, Germany, France, China, and Russia. These nations have been negotiating with Iran over its nuclear ambitions since 2006.
In a message on Truth Social, Trump stated: “I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, in the strongest of words, to ‘just do it,’ but no matter how hard they tried, no matter how close they got, they just couldn’t get it done.”
Recently, Iran carried out additional attacks on Israel early on Monday, resulting in damage to the US embassy there.
US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, reported that the embassy experienced ‘minor damage’ during the missile onslaught on Monday.
On Twitter, he mentioned: “Some minor damage from concussions of Iranian missile hits near Embassy Branch… but no injuries to US personnel.”
He also announced that the embassy would remain closed on Monday and advised Americans in Israel to monitor the embassy website for updates, including airport statuses and travel guidance.
Reports suggest that the US aircraft carrier USS Nimitz is now heading towards the Middle East, as Trump warned of additional destruction if the conflict between the two nations isn’t quickly resolved.
Trump clarified that the US was not directly involved in Israel’s initial attack, but they would respond forcefully to any Iranian retaliation.
In a social media statement, he wrote: “The U.S. had nothing to do with the attack on Iran, tonight,” said Trump. “If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before.
“However, we can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict!”
The full extent of the damage from the strikes is still unfolding.
On June 14, Iran’s UN ambassador reported that 78 people had died and over 320 were injured. In Israel, at least 10 individuals were killed in Iranian strikes from overnight into Sunday.
As more information emerges about the latest strikes, casualty numbers in both countries are expected to increase.
