A band and their driver mysteriously disappeared while en route to a Father’s Day performance in Mexico.
Los Juniors de Monterrey had performed the night before and were one of five bands scheduled to headline at La Kaprishosa bar in Guadalupe, Mexico.
Their last known location was on Sunday (June 15) in Guadalupe, a city about 90 minutes from the Texas border. They were set to play at a private event the next day.
Shortly after midnight, the band was still active on social media, with bassist Luis Dominguez and bassoonist Óscar Pérez sharing two videos.
In the first video, several band members are seen with their instruments at the bar. The second video, posted on Instagram at 3 a.m., shows them by their car on the side of a road in General Terán.
In the footage, someone is seen adjusting a rope on their 2018 Suburban vehicle, and Pérez humorously remarks, “Oh, just technical problems.”
Following the video upload, there was no further communication from them.
The Attorney General’s Office of Nuevo León released the names of the missing individuals: Domínguez, Pérez, Abraham Ontiveros, Leonardo Rubio, Francisco Alfaro, and driver Lorenzo Martínez.
Fernando Martínez, the band’s regular accordionist who wasn’t present for the gig, mentioned that calls to their phones went unanswered. Alfaro was covering for Fernando that night.
Fernando speculated that the concert hosts were not usual patrons.
He stated (via The Daily Mail): “New clients come out at every club, and that guy was the one who called, and well, he’s not a regular customer, and he confirmed to us that they didn’t come to the event.”
The last known location of the group was shared with Ontiveros’ mother, Karla Leal.
She said she last heard from him at 2:30 a.m., when he sent her his location near Cadereyta Jiménez.
She added: “They went to cover a client’s event. We don’t know if it’s a new client or a regular one.”
By Tuesday, the band resurfaced without providing an explanation. Nuevo León Governor Samuel García announced on X: “The young people from the Los Juniors de Monterrey group are well and with their families.”
The band issued a statement saying: “GaD we are already fine and with our families, thank you for your prayers, God will multiply them.”
Info Bae reported a family member said they had minor bruises but were otherwise in good health.
