A series of recent polls have provided insight into Donald Trump’s current approval ratings, offering a glimpse into the public’s perception of the president.
This comes following a tumultuous period for Trump’s administration as the global community continues to grapple with the repercussions of the U.S.’ missile strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities and the intense anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles.
In the midst of all this, Trump rolled out his ‘Big Beautiful Bill’, leading to a highly publicized conflict with former close associate Elon Musk. The disagreement shows no signs of abating, especially with Trump’s threat of deportation hanging over Musk.
Adding to the controversy, Trump’s remarks about deporting U.S. citizens after the opening of an immigration center, nicknamed ‘Alligator Alcatraz’, in Florida have left many bewildered.
The recent surge of approval polls highlights the U.S. public’s opinion on Trump’s recent decisions and actions, which may not be favorable for him.
The latest poll by ActiVote indicates that Trump’s approval rating has plunged to its lowest point in his second term.
During a survey conducted from June 1 to 30, 523 adults participated, revealing a national approval rating of 45 percent for Trump, while 52 percent expressed disapproval.
This reflects a net approval rate of -7 for the president, marking the poorest net approval rating of his second term as the figures continue to decline.
Despite the evident dissatisfaction with Trump’s performance, his current approval rating surpasses the lowest average of his first term, which was at 41 percent.
According to Newsweek, Trump still enjoys substantial support from men, rural residents, and individuals aged 50-64. However, the poll suggests that key swing voters may be beginning to turn away from him.
Another poll from Quinnipiac University published last month found that only 38 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s performance as president, while 54 percent disapprove overall.
Participants were queried on their views regarding Trump’s handling of significant issues such as the economy, immigration, and the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
Specifically, concerning the latter, only 34 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s approach to the conflict, indicating dissatisfaction with his handling of the situation.
Polling analyst Tim Malloy commented in a statement: “As the Russia-Ukraine war grinds through its third year, Americans make it clear they have little appetite for the way the Trump administration is handling the situation.”
