Jason Momoa has responded to claims of nepotism after his 16-year-old son, Nakoa-Wolf, landed an acting role in Hollywood.
The young actor is set to make his debut in “Dune: Part Three,” a much-anticipated film where he will appear alongside stars like Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. In the movie, Nakoa-Wolf takes on the role of the on-screen child of Chalamet and Zendaya’s characters, with the film slated for a December 2026 release.
Momoa, who will reprise his role as Duncan Idaho in the third installment of Dune, has denied any suggestions that he facilitated his son’s casting, stating that his son achieved it independently.
In a conversation with Extra, Momoa humorously remarked about his son’s new venture: “He’s in for a rude awakening is what he’s in for. He’s into the workforce for the first time.”
Addressing accusations of nepotism, Momoa further commented, “It’s going to be good. He did it on his own. I don’t want to help him, and he’s done it all on his own, and good for him.”
“You want your children to be better than you, and I really, actually believe he is. I couldn’t do what he’s doing at his age. There’s no way I could sit in a room with [Dune 3 director] Denis Villeneuve and hold my own. I was on Baywatch at 19. He’s 16 and holding s*** down with Denis Villeneuve.”
Momoa, who co-parents Nakoa-Wolf with ex-wife Lisa Bonet, reflected on their parenting: “We raised him beautiful. We raised our children. It’s just, you know, being loved and being confident in themselves. That is what he is. He’s very confident.”
Despite cherishing the memories of raising their children with Bonet, their divorce process was not straightforward.
The actor and Lisa Bonet ended their marriage in 2020, as per divorce documents filed by Bonet, although the public only became aware of their separation in 2022.
Reports suggest that the divorce was finalized quickly, with the former couple agreeing to joint custody of their teenage children.
Post-divorce, Momoa shared that he is currently without a permanent residence.
“Bro, I don’t even have a home right now,” he confessed to Entertainment Tonight.
“I live on the road. So, I’m down to New Zealand to start Minecraft. I hope everyone loves it.”
