Gunman in NYC kills 4 in horrific shooting before taking own life

Authorities have provided additional information concerning the tragic shooting that occurred on Monday in New York City, where a gunman opened fire inside a building.

On that day, a man from Las Vegas reportedly entered a building located at 345 Park Ave in New York City, wielding a firearm and beginning to shoot.

In the aftermath, four individuals lost their lives, and one person sustained critical injuries. Among the deceased was an off-duty police officer, as confirmed by law enforcement.

N.Y.C. Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch revealed that surveillance video captured the assailant leaving a double-parked black BMW on Park Avenue between 51st and 52nd Streets, holding an M4 rifle in his right hand.

Tisch stated, “We believe this to be a lone shooter and there is no active threat to the public.”

During a press briefing at Weill Cornell Medical Center, the New York Police Department identified the gunman as 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura from Las Vegas.

The NYPD also disclosed that Tamura had a ‘documented mental history.’

Security cameras in the building captured parts of the incident.

The footage showed Tamura entering the lobby, turning right, and immediately targeting an NYPD officer.

He then shot at a woman who sought refuge behind a pillar and continued firing as he walked through the lobby.

The gunman then proceeded to the elevator area, where he shot at a security guard who was taking cover.

After entering an elevator that opened in the lobby, he allowed a woman to exit unharmed.

Tamura rode the elevator to the 33rd floor, home to Rudin Management, and began walking around, firing the weapon as he moved. One individual was killed on that floor.

He continued down the hallway and eventually turned the gun on himself, shooting himself in the chest. Another individual was shot in the lobby, as indicated by Tamura’s comments at the hospital.

At present, there is no clear connection between the shooter and any of the companies within the building, and the motive for the attack remains undetermined.
