Fans are calling for a whole new series after streaming ‘excellent’ thriller that ‘deserves more attention’

Cinema enthusiasts are clamoring for a full series adaptation of a thriller film they feel ‘deserves more recognition’.

It’s fairly common for films to inspire series adaptations and vice versa, usually driven by fans’ desire to see beloved characters in a new format.

One film currently being hotly discussed on online forums is 40 Acres, a thriller set in a post-apocalyptic scenario where food is scarce, focusing on a family defending their secluded farm from a militia determined to seize their land.

The synopsis of 40 Acres, according to Rotten Tomatoes, is: “Former soldier Hailey (Danielle Deadwyler) and her partner Galen (Michael Greyeyes) escaped the collapse with their children, training them to fight (and, yes, kill).

“But now Hailey’s eldest Emanuel (Kataem O’Connor) is a young man, and when he meets a young woman (Milcania Diaz-Rojas) in the forest beyond the fence, his need for human contact could place the whole family in jeopardy.”

The film 40 Acres has resonated strongly with audiences, prompting calls for a series adaptation.

“Really thought-provoking, just never know in trying times???” someone remarked about the film on the ‘Netflix Bangers’ Facebook group.

“Great movie! Would love to see a mini series!” one commenter noted on the Facebook post, while another added: “Loved this movie! Needs more publicity.”

Elsewhere, a third person described it as ‘excellent’, and a fourth commented: “This was such a good movie, we enjoyed it.”

On Rotten Tomatoes, many viewers have left positive reviews for the movie, with one fan even likening it to the iconic series The Walking Dead.

The fan wrote: “An awesome addition to the post-apocalyptic pantheon! Clever, tense and genuinely surprising—40 Acres drops you in the middle of a well fleshed out universe without too much exposition or an hour of setup time.

“The characters are believable, making them flawed, imperfect and easy to root for. This is basically The Walking Dead, but without all those pesky zombies to worry about!”

Another fan had some criticisms about the movie’s beginning, though they found the remainder impressive.

“The movie didn’t try to do too much, which I really appreciate but I think that maybe the pacing could have been quickened or altered slightly to just kick it up a notch in a few areas,” the fan expressed.

“Beyond that, I really liked the character arcs, the fight scenes.”

With an 89 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, 40 Acres is clearly viewed favorably by industry critics.
