A new Netflix true crime series has introduced ‘new leads’ for investigators to explore regarding the disappearance of Amy Bradley, which occurred almost three decades ago.
At 23, Amy was enjoying a family vacation with her parents and brother when she mysteriously disappeared, just three days into their Royal Caribbean cruise on March 24, 1998.
Amy, hailing from Petersburg, Virginia, was last seen partying on the Rhapsody of the Seas and was last observed asleep in a chair on her cabin’s private balcony at around 5:30 AM.
About thirty minutes later, as the cruise ship was set to dock in Curaçao, a Caribbean island situated 40 miles off Venezuela’s coast, Amy was nowhere to be found.
Ari Mark and Phil Lott, the directors of the Netflix documentary series Amy Bradley is Missing, have disclosed that they are receiving ‘tip-offs’ about Amy’s possible location. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to her recovery.
“There have been tips actually coming in that I can’t publicly share,” Mark told CBS Mornings.
“Obviously when you get this sort of exposure and you’re on a platform like Netflix, and it has the incredible reach that it does, you’re going to get a lot of people out there who are going to want to help – and we’ve activated them.
“That was the point of this, but we also want to be really careful about vetting those tips carefully and making sure that law enforcement is involved. So, you know, it’s definitely a process, but hopefully something shakes loose.”
The documentary also highlighted the challenges the Bradley family faced in uncovering the truth, especially as several witnesses only came forward with information about Amy’s disappearance years later.
When questioned about the delay in people coming forward, Lott responded: “I mean look, everyone has reasons and we’re very sympathetic to that.
“We interview folks in the documentary who’ve got, you know, work reasons or they may perhaps aren’t just sure. I don’t think anyone’s going on vacation expecting to walk into the middle of a massive mystery.
“So, I think what unites all of these folks is it’s only later that they connect the dots, it’s only perhaps when they’ve seen a newspaper or a story on a TV segment about Amy, that they they they draw the connections and actually start realizing that what they saw wasn’t just an event in their vacation – it was something that could be a clue.”
Amy Bradley is Missing is currently streaming on Netflix.
