Prime Video users are binge-watching ‘unforgettable’ series earning a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes

Prime Video users are completely captivated by what they’re calling the ‘best TV show there is,’ which has received perfect ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.

Choosing your next series to binge can be tricky, and it’s not always a hit. Similar to dating, you might think you’ll fall for a charming TV series, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen.

That’s why it’s so refreshing when a show immediately captivates you and is effortlessly enjoyable to watch.

Amazon Prime Video subscribers have discovered just that in a charming British comedy.

The series features some well-known actors, including the experienced Toby Jones, recognized for his role as Dr. Arnim Zola in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and as the voice of Dobby the house elf in the Harry Potter series.

The series initially aired on the BBC in the UK, spanning three seasons from 2015 to 2017.

Its popularity led to the creation of two Christmas specials, the last of which was released in 2017 as a feature-length film.

It was available for streaming internationally on Netflix for a period but has since been removed from the platform.

The storyline revolves around Andy Stone (played by Mackenzie Crook, who also wrote the series) and Lance Stater (Jones), two middle-aged friends living in the fictional town of Danebury in north Essex, near London.

They share a hobby of metal detecting, spending their days exploring the English countryside in search of treasure.

Instead of finding buried riches, they discover something even more precious: the beauty of friendship, love, and life’s simple pleasures.

With a cast of quirky characters from the Danebury Metal Detecting Club, the series gently delves into their dreams, frustrations, and friendships, offering a heartwarming viewing experience.

Notable appearances include Game of Thrones’ Diana Rigg, Doctor Who’s Rachael Stirling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ Sophie Thompson, and Peaky Blinders’ Aimee-Ffion Edwards.

The show, known as Detectorists, has achieved a Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of 100 per cent for all three seasons.

Critics summarized: “Below Detectorists’ pleasant hilarity is a wealth of emotional riches, unearthed by Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook’s endearing chemistry.”

In the US, Detectorists can be streamed through Acorn TV, which is available as a free, seven-day add-on to Prime Video.

One Reddit user sought suggestions for the ‘most underrated’ shows people have ever watched.

“One of the better TV shows ever produced. A tiny gem, easy to overlook but impossible to forget,” another agreed.

“Best show there is,” commented a third. “Now I’ll rewatch because it gives me this sense of peace.”

“LOVED this show! The characters were excellent!” another social media user concurred, while someone else described it as ‘solid gold.’

All three seasons of Detectorists are currently available to stream on Acorn TV via Prime Video and on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
