A mother accused of killing her husband and two children before taking her own life is now also facing allegations of embezzling more than $600,000 from her workplace.
Emily Long, a mother of three, allegedly killed her terminally ill husband, Ryan, along with their children, before ending her own life.
Their three-year-old child was found unharmed at the scene.
On August 18, 2025, Emily, Ryan, and their children, Parker, age eight, and Ryan, age six, were discovered deceased in their Madbury residence.
Autopsy results showed that the children each suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, while Ryan was shot multiple times.
“Based upon the information available at this time, it appears that in the early morning hours of Monday, August 18, 2025, Ms. Long took a handgun from the home and caused the deaths of Ryan Long and her two children, Parker and Ryan, and then took her own life immediately thereafter,” the New Hampshire Department of Justice stated in a press release.
“While investigators are becoming aware of various concerns/issues ongoing in the household at the time of the event in question, people should avoid speculating that this event was caused by a single reason or stressor.”
Emily Long is now accused of embezzling over $600,000 from the company where she was employed.
She served as the Director of Operations at Hampton Wing-Itz.
Derek Fisher, the restaurant owner, informed WCVB that Long allegedly embezzled $660,000 from the business two years earlier.
Fisher had filed a report with law enforcement a week before the family’s death.
“I felt I had no other option than to go to law enforcement,” he stated.
“We noticed there were a lot of handwritten checks being deposited into her bank account.”
Fisher revealed to the Boston Globe that he confronted Long about his suspicions in June and requested her recent bank statements.
These documents were sent in August but appeared ‘unusual,’ as Fisher described, and a bank indicated they had likely been altered.
According to Fisher, Long later presented him with three options for proceeding: resigning, working remotely, or being terminated.
He added: “She gave me three options, essentially, of how we could proceed.”
Fisher noted that he never saw Long again.
“Anything that’s left should go to that child; he deserves all of it. It’s not fair to him; he didn’t make this happen, and he didn’t deserve this,” he continued.
Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati stated that the investigation is considering whether financial issues or health problems might have contributed to the tragic events but emphasized: “I think the big thing is to try not to speculate that there’s any one reason why something like this would happen. Homicide and suicide is usually much, much more complex than just one reason.”
“There’s still more information that we’re trying to gather to narrow down different things.”
