Donald Trump has provided an update regarding the investigation into the murder of Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was tragically killed on Wednesday (September 10) after being shot in the neck, reportedly by a lone gunman.
The suspect managed to escape the scene, prompting an extensive search by authorities — however, it is now believed that the police have apprehended the suspect.
In an appearance on Fox News’ FOX and Friends, the president was asked for the latest information on the case and stated: “I think with a high degree of certainty we have [the suspect] in custody.”
This statement from Trump follows his earlier remarks to reporters, expressing how he hoped the public would react to the news of Kirk’s death. He commented: “He was an advocate of non-violence that’s the way I’d like to see people respond.”
Trump also mentioned having spoken to Kirk’s wife, Erika Lane Frantzve, after the shooting, sharing that she is ‘devastated.’
He remarked: “She’s absolutely devastated as you can imagine.”
More updates to follow.
