Suspect Identified After Arrest in Connection with Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

The authorities have disclosed the identity of the individual suspected in the murder of Charlie Kirk, which occurred on September 10.

Charlie Kirk was tragically shot while addressing an audience at Utah Valley University.

The FBI has been diligently investigating the incident, gradually releasing information in their pursuit of the perpetrator.

Earlier this week, they unveiled images of a ‘person of interest’ linked to Kirk’s assassination and urged the public to submit any footage from the event or surrounding area that might aid the investigation.

Subsequently, they released CCTV footage that seemingly depicts the shooter descending from a university building roof and escaping into the community post-shooting.

A law enforcement official has provided the Associated Press with further details ahead of a live press conference by the FBI.

The official confirmed the suspect’s identity as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old resident of Utah.

This revelation follows an appearance by US President Donald Trump on Fox News, where he shared an update.

While he did not disclose the shooter’s name, he did indicate that a ‘suspect’ is in custody.

During his Fox News interview on FOX and Friends, the president was asked for a case update, to which he replied: “I think with a high degree of certainty we have [the suspect] in custody.”

According to a BBC News report, Trump mentioned that someone close to the suspect turned him in.

Trump went on to commend local authorities and the collaborative effort in apprehending the suspect.

He remarked that they ‘did a great job’ and emphasized that ‘everybody [was] working together.’

Additionally, Trump attempted to address the appeals for reprisal following Kirk’s passing, describing how he hopes the public will react.

He stated: “He was an advocate of non-violence that’s the way I’d like to see people respond.”
