Numerous individuals online have highlighted an unusual aspect of RFK Jr.’s speech during a vigil for Charlie Kirk held over the weekend.
Charlie Kirk, a prominent right-wing activist, was tragically killed during a speech at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University last Wednesday, September 10.
Police asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the shooter, who had been spotted on a rooftop on the campus grounds.
By Friday, September 12, authorities announced the arrest of a suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.
Various vigils occurred throughout the US over the weekend, including one at the Kennedy Center in Washington, attended by numerous senior Republican leaders who came together to honor Kirk’s memory.
One of the speakers, Kennedy, said: “I met Charlie for the first time in July 2001. I went on his podcast, and I think we approached each other with a lot of trepidation at that time, but by the end of the podcast, we were soul mates, spiritual brothers, and friends.”
It’s important to note that Kirk was born in October 1993, which means he would have been just eight years old in 2001.
Since Kirk launched his podcast in 2020, it’s plausible that Kennedy misspoke during his speech, likely intending to reference meeting Kirk in 2021.
Nevertheless, the online community quickly noticed this error.
“In 2001, Charlie Kirk was eight years old,” someone remarked, while another defended Kennedy by saying: “He meant 2021, people make mistakes.”
In recent days, those close to Kirk, including his wife, Erica, have expressed their feelings publicly.
During a livestream from Turning Point USA’s office in Phoenix, Erica stood at a podium next to the chair her husband used while recording his podcast.
She expressed gratitude to first responders who ‘struggled heroically to save Charles’ life’, Kirk’s team, the White House, and Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha, for bringing Kirk’s body home.
Erica also acknowledged President Donald Trump and his bond with Kirk, stating: “Mr President, my husband loved you. And he knew that you loved him too.”
She continued by asserting that Kirk’s death was due to his ‘message of patriotism, faith and of God’s merciful love’, adding: “You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.”
