An update has emerged concerning the situation of a nurse who faced suspension for reporting a doctor’s remarks following the death of Charlie Kirk.
On September 10, Kirk was shot at an event held at Utah Valley University.
The activist’s death has elicited mixed reactions, with some individuals facing backlash for their inappropriate comments about Kirk in the aftermath.
MSNBC analyst Matthew Dowd was let go from the network due to his on-air comments about Kirk, which he later apologized for.
Regarding Kirk’s assassination, he commented, “Hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in.”
In another incident, UK punk band Bob Vylan canceled a performance after frontman Bobby Vylan labeled Kirk as a ‘piece of s*** of a human being’.
Despite his dislike for Kirk, the singer denied celebrating the activist’s death.
A doctor at Englewood Health is another individual accused of ‘celebrating’ Kirk’s passing, according to a nurse working there.
Lexi Kuenzle, employed at the hospital for nearly two years, was taken aback by the news of Kirk’s death last week.
Dr. Matthew Jung reportedly ‘celebrated’ the death, claiming Kirk ‘had it coming’ and ‘deserved it’.
The nurse filed a lawsuit against the hospital and Dr. Jung, claiming the doctor offered to buy lunch as an apology to anyone offended by his alleged remarks.
Kuenzle reported Dr. Jung for his comments, leading to the suspension of both the nurse and the doctor while Englewood Health conducted an investigation.
She stated that she felt compelled to address the situation.
“Speaking up wasn’t optional for me; it was my duty as a nurse to protect patients from that kind of cruelty and to uphold the integrity of our profession,” Kuenzle told Fox News Digital.
New information from the hospital confirms that the nurse has been reinstated while Dr. Jung has resigned.
A spokesperson stated: “Consistent with protocol and best practices, Englewood Health diligently investigated the Sept. 10 incident that occurred between a doctor and a nurse in a patient care area. We have accepted the physician’s resignation, and the nurse is expected to work her scheduled shifts.
“The nurse was never fired; was never told she would be fired by Englewood Hospital; and will not miss any pay as part of our review of this matter. Englewood Health is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all.”
