Protestors in Britain have launched a campaign to mock Donald Trump ahead of his upcoming state visit to the UK.
In February, during his initial meeting at the White House with Trump as president, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer extended an invitation from King Charles III for a ‘truly historic’ and ‘unprecedented’ second state visit.
The President of the United States expressed that it was a ‘great, great honour’. Trump and the First Lady, Melania Trump, are expected to arrive in the UK on Tuesday (September 16).
During Trump’s first state visit to the UK six years ago, protests occurred nationwide as many British citizens expressed their disapproval of the Republican president.
Even before his arrival in Britain, protestors have started to troll Trump. One activist has placed what she calls ‘merchandise’ inside the Windsor Castle gift shop.
A video that has gone viral shows a mug featuring an image of Trump and Jeffrey Epstein standing together from years ago.
“Epstein and Trump Merchandise has appeared at the Windsor Castle gift shop among other stores around England ahead of Trump’s visit. The people aren’t happy about his visit and will make it as uncomfortable as possible for him!” the social media user@Suzierizzo1 wrote, according to The Mirror.
Additional merchandise, also unofficial and not available in the official Windsor Castle gift shop, includes plates featuring the 1990s image adorned with Royal imagery.
Another Instagram account reported that the unofficial items have since been removed, with a spokesperson for the Royal Collection Trust telling the Mirror that they ‘would not comment on security matters’.
The Epstein case has come back into focus recently following the Trump administration’s unexpected reversal on its plans to release all the FBI files related to it.
Recently, the Democrats on the Oversight Committee shared an image allegedly sourced from Epstein’s ‘birthday book’, claiming it was sent to the convicted sex offender on his 50th birthday.
“HERE IT IS: We got Trump’s birthday note to Jeffrey Epstein that the President said doesn’t exist,” the caption stated.
“Trump talks about a ‘wonderful secret’ the two of them shared. What is he hiding? Release the files!”
The president denied that it was his writing, telling the press: “It’s not my signature and it’s not the way I speak. Anybody that has covered me for a long time knows that’s not my language. It’s nonsense.”
