Apple introduces long-awaited charging update for iPhone users

Apple’s newest addition to the iPhone lineup, the iPhone 17, has finally arrived, and it appears that the wait has been worthwhile.

This week marks the launch of several models: the standard iPhone 17, the enhanced iPhone 17 Pro, the larger iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the ultra-slim iPhone Air.

The question on everyone’s mind is about battery performance: how long will it last, and how fast can it be recharged?

It seems Apple has provided some clarity on this front.

Apple has confirmed that the new iPhones will offer significantly faster charging speeds, capable of reaching up to 50% charge in approximately 20 minutes. This is a noticeable improvement, shaving up to 10 minutes off the charge time of the iPhone 16.

One enthusiastic customer commented, “Finally! This is the most exciting new release.”

However, there’s a caveat: the charging speed is dependent on using a compatible USB-C power adapter.

Apple has stated that while most of the new iPhones will achieve a 50% charge in 20 minutes, the iPhone Air will require a bit more time, taking about 30 minutes.

The new devices require a USB-C charger, and Apple is also launching a new model this week.

The 40W dynamic power adaptor, with a maximum of 60W, is priced at $39. Nevertheless, any high-wattage USB-C charger will suffice and does not need to be an Apple product.

These new iPhone models are also notable for their extended battery life.

Apple has provided estimates for video playback times, comparing them to earlier versions:

Though the iPhone Air takes an additional ten minutes to reach 50% charge and has a slightly shorter battery life compared to other models, it still competes closely with the iPhone 16. As Apple’s thinnest phone yet, it is expected to be in high demand.

This model is remarkably slim, measuring only 5.6mm in thickness.

Apple described their innovation: “Despite being much thinner and lighter, iPhone Air still gets amazing all-day battery life. Our intention was to make an iPhone that feels like a piece of the future, powerful, yet so thin and light it seems to disappear in your hands.”

“The 48MP Fusion Main camera with 2x Telephoto supports the latest advanced features like next-generation portraits and more,” they further noted.

Despite its sleek design, Apple claims this will be their ‘most durable yet.’

Some people might not prioritize battery life or charging speed—they’re more interested in the available color options.

This year’s color choices have sparked some controversy, particularly among the Pro and Max models, with one user expressing dissatisfaction: “You know who really wants the better cameras? Women,” they remarked.

“Women do not want orange or navy. Where are the cute colors?” they questioned.

“Who are these for exactly? Dads?” another joked in response to the orange and navy color options.

A comment on Instagram inquired, “I don’t know why it’s so hard to include various colors for the iPhones. Why couldn’t you have a pink option available? You have these colors that I am not interested in.”
