Jamie Lee Curtis Comments on Jimmy Kimmel Dispute After Charlie Kirk Remarks

Jamie Lee Curtis has expressed her opinion on the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s television show after his comments regarding the death of Charlie Kirk.

Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist, was fatally shot at Utah Valley University on September 10th. He was at the university as part of a debate organized by Turning Point USA, a non-profit organization he founded that promotes conservative politics on school and college campuses.

Kirk was delivering a speech to an audience of 3,000, which included his wife and two young children, when he was shot in the neck.

The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, has been charged with several offenses, including aggravated murder and obstruction of justice.

The assassination of Kirk has ignited significant debate, particularly due to his controversial stance on gun laws.

At a TPUSA-Faith event in Salt Lake City in April 2023, he stated: “I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.”

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis has joined the discussion about the incident.

In an interview with Marc Maron on his WTF podcast, she stated about Kirk: “I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected with his faith.”

She added: “Even though his ideas were abhorrent to me. I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith. And I hope whatever connection to God means that he felt it.”

Jimmy Kimmel also commented on Kirk’s assassination through his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!

He featured a peculiar clip of Donald Trump, who was considered a close ally of Kirk, being questioned about how he was handling the news of Kirk’s death while outside the White House.

Trump replied unusually, “I think very good,” before diverting attention to renovations at his Washington, D.C. residence. He pointed to construction nearby and boasted about a new White House ballroom: “It’ll be an absolutely magnificent structure.”

This led Kimmel to joke: “He’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?”

Kimmel later aired another clip of Trump, who again redirected focus to his ballroom plans when asked about Kirk’s murder.

The host concluded: “There’s something wrong with him, there really is. Who thinks like that? We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

This sparked backlash, with Trump demanding Kimmel be fired over his remarks.

Sinclair, the largest ABC affiliate group in the nation, has confirmed that the show has been suspended ‘indefinitely.’

Many celebrities have commented on the situation, including Curtis, following her earlier podcast remarks.

On Instagram, she shared a post from Rolling Stone.

The post quoted an interview from April 2025, where Kimmel told the publication: “I don’t think anybody should be canceled. I really don’t.”

Curtis simply shared the post with her 6.4 million followers, offering no additional comment and allowing the repost to reflect her stance on the show’s suspension.

Rolling Stone explained in their Instagram caption: “Back in April, Rolling Stone caught up with late-night stalwart @jimmykimmel about taking on Donald Trump. He seems like the kind of character that would flame out after a few years, but the fact that he’s still with us is remarkable. He also spoke at-length about patriotism, cancel culture, and more.”

Affiliate giant Sinclair announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! would remain off the air until ABC addressed concerns regarding ‘professionalism and accountability.’

The broadcaster also insisted Kimmel apologize directly to Kirk’s family and make a personal donation to them and Turning Point USA, emphasizing that the show would not return until ‘appropriate steps’ were taken.
