John Cena sparks debate by revealing real reason for not planning on having children

John Cena, known for his role in Peacemaker, has sparked debate online after discussing why he hasn’t started a family yet. During an appearance at a Fan Expo, he invited attendees to ask him questions. One woman inquired whether he was planning to have children.

Cena responded, “Currently no,” which seemed to intrigue the questioner. He went on to explain that his busy career schedule, highlighted by roles like his recent one in Heads of State with Idris Elba, is his current priority, rather than conforming to societal expectations of settling down and having children.

He remarked, “From the information that I’ve gathered you’ve kinda gotta look after [kids].”

Continuing, the WWE star shared, “I’ll just give you a small insight to my life: I have been working straight for 43 days now and I’ve got another 20 to go,” possibly hinting at his upcoming film, Little Brother.

He elaborated on the matter, stating, “So if I were to bring a life into this world that needs environmental nurture and unconditional love, I also know that takes time, and I’ve been blessed with some great opportunities and life has awarded me the chance to do some amazing things. And right now I wanna seize those opportunities.” Cena emphasized that he did not want to irresponsibly have a child that he could not fully care for.

In response to the fan’s inquiry, Cena thanked her for allowing him to openly address the topic.

The clip of Cena’s candid response prompted mixed reactions on social media. Some criticized him, suggesting he was self-centered. One user commented, “That’s a weird way of saying ‘I’m too self-centred to have a child,'” on X.

Others defended his honesty. A counterpoint was made: “Having a kid you won’t care for just because you want to have kids is extremely selfish, in what world is being aware of the fact you wouldn’t be a good parent selfish, that’s selfless.”

Another user suggested, “Self aware is the term that you’re looking for. He worded it coldly, but that’s what it boils down to.”

Others appreciated his self-awareness, noting, “He seems very self aware knowing that he is not willing to sacrifice his time to raise children. It’s not for everyone.”

A separate fan praised Cena’s remarks as being “very real,” pointing out that many parents have children without considering the necessary sacrifices and dedication required for raising them properly.
