Donald Trump expressed his disdain for Jimmy Kimmel during a speech at Charlie Kirk’s funeral. The funeral took place on September 21 with a significant turnout.
Among the attendees was the former U.S. President, Donald Trump, who spoke at the event in honor of Kirk. During his remarks, Trump targeted late-night television host Jimmy Kimmel, whom he accused of being insensitive regarding Kirk’s passing. Kimmel’s show was recently placed on indefinite suspension following comments he made about Trump’s response to inquiries on how he was managing the situation.
Trump criticized those who commented on Kirk’s murder, labeling them as ‘major losers,’ and expressed disbelief over some of the remarks he had seen related to Kirk’s death. He specifically singled out Kimmel and his audience.
He stated: “Commentators, influencers and others in our society have greeted his assassination with sick approval, excuses or even jubilation.
“You know the names, they are major losers by the way, that will be proven out in a short period of time.
“Some of the very people who call you a hater for using the wrong pronoun were filled with glee at the killing of a father with two beautiful young children.
“The same commentators who this week are screaming fascism over a cancelled late night TV show where the anchor had no talent and no ratings were last week implying that Charlie Kirk deserved what happened to him.”
Despite his speech, Trump received criticism on social media for his comments during the funeral.
During his address, he also touched upon the benefits of tariffs he implemented and his administration’s achievements, though these topics were only loosely connected to Kirk’s death.
One social media user remarked: “This is what Trump talks about at the funeral of his friend? Kimmel was accurate.”
Another commented: “Any excuse for political BS blowing his own trumpet (erroneously)! Completely inappropriate for the occasion. He’s an absolute disgrace. Cringe.”
A third individual added: “I thought this was a memorial service? Silly me, total political rally & propaganda spew.”
An additional comment read: “Effing ar**hole, talking about other things when he’s at a funeral. Who invite that DS anyway?”
Someone else concluded: “You mean he spoke about tariffs at a man’s funeral? It’s all about Trump! Wow! That so like him egotistical! He can’t let the spotlight go! Unbelievable.”
