A streamer has been banned from the platform Kick following a viral video showing him seemingly pushing an elderly man on a train.
Spanish streamer Kelton González, known online as Kelton_g, was broadcasting live from Japan’s Hankyu railway when the incident took place.
A 30-second video captures him pushing a man twice, who had approached him and attempted to touch his hat, circulating widely across social media.
In Japan, it is well known that loud conversation and disruptive behavior are discouraged on train services.
According to Twitter’s community notes, “Hankyu trains and many other train companies require prior application and permission to take photos, movies on their trains, and inside their premises (except for personal use).”
Per the Twitter account Kick Bans, Kelton was suspended from the streaming platform on Tuesday, September 23.
Since then, the complete video clip of the altercation has been shared, providing additional context.
The footage shows the elderly man approaching Kelton several times, at one point seemingly trying to touch his face.
Some believe Kelton was provoked into pushing the man, though opinions are divided.
As reported by Dextero, Kelton shared a now-deleted Instagram video claiming self-defense, acknowledging his actions “were not the most correct.”
He stated: “I promise that it was with the purpose of defending myself against the constant intimidation that was against me.”
“Both the other person and I acted badly, the gentleman for being rude to me and trying to hit me three times in a row and I for pushing him, I hope the context is clear and that I acted only in a defensive position and never to hurt anyone,” he added.
Kelton later posted an Instagram Story with a smiling police officer, noting: “Fortunately, everything went well and the Japanese police understood that it was the other person who started the confrontation and I was just defending myself.”
Despite Kelton’s defense and the additional context, opinions remain divided on who was at fault.
The debate extended to Reddit, where one user commented: “Even if the streamer wasn’t allowed to film, it does not give the old man the right to assault him, which seems to be what happened before this video.”
Another user added: “Dang, with the full context, I get it, kudos on [Kelton] for just pushing him away.”
A third expressed: “Streamer definitely didn’t need to push him again in the clip, but streamer did initially keep his cool I guess. No one wins here.”
“Bro really out here making sure tourists keep their bad reputation,” another user wrote, while others highlighted the importance of respecting cultural rules.
Comments have been requested from Kick regarding the situation.
