Netflix mini-series binged for 84.7 million hours storms most-watched chart with 97% completion

Netflix viewers are enthralled by a unique TV series that has already been watched for over 80 million hours.

Among the vast array of content available on the platform, this series has climbed the ranks of the global most-watched list and received positive feedback from its audience.

This 12-episode series has been airing weekly since August 23.

One fan described the series – which boasts a 97 percent approval rating – as ‘Korean Outlander meets Iron Chef.’

Currently, this TV series is listed as the third most-watched globally according to Netflix’s charts, following Black Rabbit and Billionaire’s Bunker.

It has achieved a 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with fans praising it as the ‘most bingeable show ever.’

The series has already amassed 84.7 million viewing hours, even before the complete season has been released.

The story features K-pop star and actress Im Yoon-ah as Yeon Ji-yeong, a renowned French cuisine chef who finds herself in an unusual predicament.

On the day she triumphs in a significant cooking contest, she is inexplicably sent back in time during a solar eclipse.

She ends up in the Joseon Dynasty, a prominent era in Korean history, spanning from 1392 to 1897.

In the royal court, Ji-yeong’s contemporary culinary techniques both shock and impress, leading to her eventual role as palace chef for King Yi Heon (Lee Chae-min), a ruler known for his exquisite palate despite his notorious reputation.

As Ji-yeong navigates the complexities of royal life and the court’s politics, she encounters competition from favored concubine Kang Mok-ju, portrayed by Kang Han-na, schemes from Prince Je Seon (Choi Gwi-hwa), and the formidable challenge of earning the king’s trust and admiration through her culinary expertise.

The series, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, airs on the Korean network tvN and is available internationally on Netflix.

With a near-perfect 97 percent approval on Rotten Tomatoes, one fan remarked that it’s ‘packed with every delight!’

They continued: “Historical set and costume design, gorgeous cinematography, hilarious play between the two main characters, modern and old stylistic juxtaposition… Just so fresh and exciting!”

Another viewer commented: “I absolutely love this series, it’s not predictable each episode is more exciting [than the next].”

“Action, mystery, a bit of romance, court intrigue, fantasy/sci-fi! This is one my favourite k-dramas on Netflix in the last few years!” shared a third fan.

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is currently streaming on Netflix, with its final two episodes set to release on Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28.
