Donald Trump has frequently criticized his predecessor, and his latest remark has sparked some controversy.
Upon reentering the White House, Trump has made several comments regarding the changes in design he has implemented.
Recently, the White House Twitter account showcased a new feature titled the ‘presidential walk of fame’ near the Oval Office, adorned with framed portraits of past U.S. presidents.
However, the Trump administration used this moment to mock Joe Biden.
Instead of Biden’s portrait, an image of an autopen signing his name was displayed.
This references Trump’s earlier claim that Biden often used an autopen for signing crucial documents, including pardons.
While some saw humor in this gesture, others criticized it as immature behavior from the administration.
One Twitter user remarked: “Indeed, it’s childish and beneath the weight of the office of the President.
“[Biden] rallied the free world in support of Ukraine’s and Europe’s freedom and sovereignty. Truly one of the most consequential presidents.”
Another added: “Joe Biden served honorably as President of the United States. Replacing his portrait with an autopen is petty and disrespectful.”
A frustrated individual questioned: “Can anyone in this administration ever just grow the fuck up?”
Even a Trump supporter found this act inappropriate, stating: “I love you guys and support your posts and the President but this is a bridge too far for me.
“A little more respect and decorum is due at the White House for all former presidents.
“You gonna replace Nixon with a pic of the Watergate Hotel, Carter with a pic of Iran or Clinton with a pic of Monica next?”
Another critic added: “If only you put as much effort into being president as your team does in s***posting.”
This is not the first instance of Trump making derogatory remarks towards former presidents.
Earlier this year, in August, it was reported that Trump had Barack Obama’s portrait relocated to a less prominent area.
During 2022, Obama’s presidential portrait was revealed and hung in the White House’s grand staircase, where it was displayed for several years.
However, upon Trump’s return to the White House, the portrait was moved to a different location in the Entrance Hall, replaced by a portrait of Trump surviving an assassination attempt.
